The sweetest Children can sometimes confuse us the most!

It seems as though with Zachary we never had any real health problems. Tyler has been another story! He came into this world blue and ever since has had fabulous still small health problems.

Yesterday he woke up with a low grade fever of 99 degrees. Kenny and I were immediately on high alert due to his seizures. So we began to give him Tylenol like Doc told up to do.....he seemed to be a little fussy but not terrible. My best friend Felicia took Zach to preschool for me because I didn't want to risk another seizure on the way somewhere which has been the case with his last two seizures. Well while zach is at preschool, tyler wakes up from his nap with a 102 temp. I give him motrin at 3 and know that i cant give him anything else until 9. URG! at 5:30 it is back up to 102.7 his face is bright red and he is extremely lethargic. I then give him more tylenol and of course there is no immediate response. Kenny comes home slightly freaked out and immediately gives him a luke warm bath to try and bring it down but tyler doesn't want it and with his screaming gagged and threw up everything that was in his system. Beautiful. With the rising temp, we decided to take him to Urgent Care. WE spent the next 3 hrs there....when we got there his temp was down to 101.5 Thank you tylenol. They put us in the waiting room and called us back 1 hr later. Then we sat in the office for another hr. The doctor finally comes in and says wow he is hot but everything else on him looks perfect...ears...throat, glands..... well he then left and said he was going to talk to the doc. Another 10 minutes went by and Tyler was growing more and more red, extremely lethargic and felt like he just came out of the dryer. I was tired of waiting, I walked out of the office found the doc and told him his fever is getting worse. The doc then got the nurse to take his temp and sure enough it was 105 degrees. They then gave him 10 ml of Motrin....double the dose for his age and monitored him for another hour. After the hour it was 102.3 and we were discharged home...given the option to take him to the hospital but with a fear that that would do more harm then good. So I am told to medicate my child every three hours with interchanging tylenol and motrin out...in 3 days its not gone i have to follow up with Kipp. I love how sometimes there is just no explanation to what is going on with this cute little boys body! The blessing in all of this is even with his temp reaching 105 he did not have a seizure. The bad part is thats way high and man his face appeared to be burned all night long.

I'm so sorry! poor Tyler... I think it's so scary watching our children be so ill and not knowing how to help them, or not being able to do much for them. Thank goodness there was no seizure.. i hope he is better.
